Should we go back to mechanical cameras alone? Sheet film? Glass plates? Daguerrotypes? All of them depend upon technology. Photography with the latest whizz-bang digital SLR, viewed on a computer monitor, or printed on an inkjet printer, is no more or less "real" than anything going on at the turn of the (20th) century.
