Austin,

I have no problems with your conclusions about Leica M cameras;
however, your knowledge of bicycle frames can only be described as
limited. The materials use in frame construction cannot only be chosen
on the basis of lightweight. The old Teledynes (titanium) and Kirks
(cast magnesium) certainly proved that! It is only in the last year or
so that the use of aluminium and carbon fiber has matured to point
where they can give ride qualities approaching that of a well designed
steel bike. Lightweight is very nice but not if it punishes the rider
over every road irregularity.

As to craftsmanship, there is no contest. Nothing can touch a steel
bike with handmade lugs.
