There are similarities to the pure Leica question.
Traditional materials and craftsmanship vs. new high
tech materials and manufacturing techniques.
Appreciation of the tool, be it bike or camera and
lens, is an integral part of some peoples enjoyment of
the sport/art/passion. I like to feel the next gear
when I shift my bike, not slap a shifter and hear the
clunk into a predetermined position, a la STI and
Ergo. I enjoy the ride and sound of sew-ups on smooth
pavement, just as I enjoy making decisions about
exposure, focus, depth of field. Never thought how
similar the two things were 'till Ken Ruth sent me a
scan of a Canon VT trigger wind mechanism sans cover.
Sweet little chain that looks like it came from a new
Dura Ace Group.
