I wouldn't be using either an M6 or M7 if there was a true equivalent - in terms of even modern Leica quality - with really modern features - 1/250th flash sync, top shutter speed of a 1/2000th or more, Ap pref, shutter pref, build-in motor....And, sure, that camera might have to be a bit bigger.... The problem is that that such a camera doesn't exist...If you want a high quality RF the M is your camera - I know the Bessa R2 is good, and the Rollei version will probably be a bit better than that, and I know the Konica is good. But an M is an M... That said, I don't think the antediluvian improvements to the M7 make trading up worthwhile in this, the last half-decade of film photography. I'm not conservative on this - I'm a radical with no where to go if I want to use rangefinders. :-) B. D. I know, Ted, I know - AE is God's gift to photographers and an M7 would improve my life the way the washing machine and drier improved the lives of housewives! :-) - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us] On Behalf Of Martin Howard Sent: Saturday, November 16, 2002 1:38 PM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Leica users don't like change On Saturday, Nov 16, 2002, at 09:54 America/Los_Angeles, bdcolen wrote: > M6 = 1953 camera with 1966 metering > M7 = 1953 camera with 1972 metering > > I'll stick with the 1966, given the price differential and the fact > that > I'm used to it.
