Subject: [Leica] motordrive moron

I guess I fall between both camps, having long argued that Leica should go back to
the type of linkage they used for the Leitz New York motor drive (a great unit --
most are still functioning after 35 years), which had a release right on the drive
itself (like most modern SLR drives) and NO backlash. With all the little changes
they've made to the M camera lately (DX coding, on-off switches etc.), a simple
doohickey in the bottom of the camera would've allowed the introduction of a proper
motor drive, possibly with motorized rewind (now there's a novel concept).

I admire Tom's Rapidwinder tremendously but, as a right eye user, I just don't need
it. I need a motor I can use comfortably one-handed.
