Ellis, Don't worry about offending anyone, but if you do, you might want to do it privately to them off-line. Public humiliation is not a goal of criticism. But the ground rules ... I think there are different strokes for different folks. Part of the PAW, and my own personal favorite part, is "ok, turkey, you have a Leica ... aren't you going to use it?". How many of us have invested fair amounts of money in cameras, lenses, lighting (but by that time, you're probably really using it, or you wouldn't even know you were missing it), and never using the stuff. Kind of a Toy's R Us for big boys. The PAW is a challenge to "wake up and get your act together". So the ground rule for the PAW participant is: use your camera. The ground rule for the critic ... as Groucho said: DamnFyNo The end result, for me personally as a PAW participant, is: No, you don't need to go out and buy XYZ because your pictures are crap anyway. My wife loves that part. Imagine, I could go out and buy a used M6 to replace my M3 that is not really working anymore, or, I could give slightly less to her and she could take some of the old rings from her grandparents go to a very talented goldsmith in Mölndal and he will create a work of art and add a stone. She'll end up with a very distinctive ring. My pictures better be pretty good (and better bring in some bucks) before I buy that M6. Take care!
