For the web, scanning at a higher resolution doesn't help.  It's just with
current scanners there is some diffusing of your image so an unsharp mask is
applied(USM).  Sharpening is just part of the workflow.

On those rolls that you want to post, why not have your lab scan to a CD?
The price is reasonable and the quality will give you a decent 8X print.  Or
you could acquire a dedicated scanner as the prices for these have started
to come down.  You did know that the Leica life had associated addictions
and ways to become poor?
