Congrats to you and your friend!

Large publishers are not crooks. Just call the publisher's 
advertising, PR  or something like that department and ask them what 
their going rates are. And then send them the bill. Also ask them how 
many original prints they want to accompany the review copies they 
send to the press. They do not usually pay too much for these, but if 
they want a dozen they are quickly made and the volume makes $$$. If 
the rules over there are the same as here, if the photo is then 
published with a review you can  bill the paper/mag where the review 
appeared. I'm sure your friend will get all the reviews. Mark all 
prints with 'copyright by neil beddoe' and show at least your phone 
number.
