If you hang out on Mac specific use groups you might get targeted. Otherwise there is little likelihood of anything untoward happening. I have used Macs now since 1986 and have been on the "internet" since 1992 or so. I have never had a single virus or other problem. Regardless, I keep up to date virus software installed and I NEVER, EVER open unsolicited attachments. It is a bit like the problem of cyclists and car doors. If you never ride where a car doors can open, it is not a problem. My main transportation for the last 18 years has been by various bicycles and I have never even been close to being "doored".
