Subject: [Leica] formalish portrait critique

Having no experience taking formal portraits, I've been reading what I can
find about doing them; including location shots. When my two daughters and
two friends went to a local teaching salon to get inexpensive makeovers I
took them to a local university for a portrait. This isn't a Leica shot,
but I'd like some critique if anybody is willing to give it.

I used a Mamiya TLR with a Norman bare bulb flash. I chose a location that
would provide directional light, as a studio might provide, and a background
that added depth without too much distraction. The location isn't exactly
what I had in mind; they were doing some construction and there was dust all
over the tiling, but perhaps that added some character to the girls whom I
had pose barefoot. I took an incident reading from the shadow side of the
faces, set the camera at that f-stop and added the same amount from the bare
bulb. There was a little less light than I expected, so the f-stop had to
be lower than I would have liked for the depth of focus.

I'd be interested in any comments about posing, lighting, technique, etc..
The jpg came out a little more contrasty than the original, which shows just
a hint of detail in the highlight of the hair of the girl in green.

Thanks a lot.
