Before the Nikon F was introduced in 1959, the East German Praktina was the only 35 SLR generally available with a motor (announced but apparently never marketed were motors for the rare Japanese Zunow SLR and the 1st Minolta SLR, the SR2). If interested, you can access the article at LATIMES.com -- but you do have to register on line to do so. This weeks Sports Illustrated also has a tribute to him.
