I think that as long as mechanical cameras held some real attraction for a reasonable number of people beyond those who will continue to shoot with Leicas as long as Kodak - or some obscure company in Lithuania - continues to make 35 mm film, then they will hold, have held, their value. But I think that over the past six months the price for real quality digital gear has dropped so far and fast, and top quality autoeverything SLRs are now so accessible, that there are far fewer film fanatics today than their were six months or a year ago. And, of course, this creates a great opportunity for the diehards. ;-) B. Perhaps this is a return to reality. as a shooter I give not a whit of the resale value of my Leica M Cameras. I will use them for the next four or five decades and then my kids can use them. It is a good buying opportunity and was it realistic to expect that a new M4-P KIT (body 50 summicron MR4 M4-2 WINDER) which I bought for $750 - 100 rebate as a freshman in college (my Minolta gear was ripped off insurance settlement. Mowed a LOT of lawns for the Minolta gear) would cost 4-5x that today even after inflation Mark on 8/10/02 4:38 AM, B. D.
