As you remember, kyle was visited by the Angry God of the old testament last week when his digital camera was smashed into bits and pieces. Of course this happened three days before The Weekend of Four Shoots. Unable to rent a D1whanot anywhere, our young penatent went to Ye Olde Camera Shoppe and spent $140 on film. Then he proceeded to roll 20 rolls of Tri-X in bulk which had been lying about in the fridge. Then he shot all day saturday, processed film all night saturday, scanned film into the wee hours of the morning sunday, dropped C-41 and E6 film off sunday as soon as Ye Olde Camera Shoppe opened, shot sunday afternoon, broke from shooting and went back to get processed film. shelled out $210 for processed film. began scanning adventure again, amidst falling asleep at the keyboard, he scans now even as he reads the LUG. This weekend, the time (and money) i spent away from shooting makes me care Not One Whit if i need to replace my digital technology every two years ($2000 for a D100 is only the cost of purchasing and processing 140 or so rolls of film -- a roll a week for two years? you need to buy a $2,000 leica, you better be shooting a roll a week), and Not One Other Whit if my canon AE1 can't be repaired because nobody makes the chips anymore. I know how much an hour of _my_ time is worth, not to mention eight or ten or twenty.... had i been able to rent a D1x this weekend, I'd be done by now and my shots would be in Portland, where they belong, not eeking out of my coolscan. and i still have nine rolls of tri-x to develop and scan for wednesday's deadline..... i did get to shoot with my leica, and that's fun, but yours truely i remain, bleary eyed in philadelphia, kc - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
