I have kept track of the battery consumption in my M7 since I got it in
March. The first set lasted 27 rolls, 2nd set 33 rolls and the 3rd set
another 31 rolls. The current set is occasionally indicating "bc" after about
25 rolls, but then it goes back to OK status. The first time "bc" flashed I
thought it was a GPS system at work. Nice camera, even told me that I was in
British Columbia! I don't find the drain too excessive, considering that it
drives the shutter and the AE metering program. It would be nice to have the
camera manufacturers standardize on one kind of battery though! At the moment
I am shooting with a M7, a Hexar RF and a Contax G2, all with 35/2 lenses. It
is the basis for an article in the LHSA Viewfinder on AE cameras. I stocked
up on fresh batteries and got very little change back from $50 Canadian (one
set for the M7 and one set each for the Hexar and Contax). The Hexar seems to
handle about 70-80 rolls per pair of CR 2's. The G2 I have just picked up and
will start shooting with it this weekend. Bright and sunny, so it will be
Acros at 100 ASA.
By the way, I did some critical tests of the Hexar with 1,4 lenses (35/50
and 75) and I found no indication of the "evil" filmplane to lensmount
problem.
