Subject: [Leica] Summer book sale at Leica Gallery, NYC

Dear LUG members: This message was originally sent on Friday, but apparently 
did not go through - so, it is being sent out again. 
Hoping that everyone on the LUG is having a good summer, the following is our 
annual summer book sale and with only one or two exceptions noted all books 
are signed by the photographer (an asterik* means that it is exclusive to 
Leica Gallery and was not distributed in the US):
*22 Photographers (contemporary Austrian Photography) signed by Regina 
Anzenberger, signed, color and black and white, hardcover, was $50. now $30.
Austrian Documentary Photographers, signed by Regina Anzenberger, softbound, 
black and white, was $22. now $16.
*Gerald Axelrod: als lebten die engel auf erden (as though Angel would Live 
on Earth), with full English translation, signed (black and white on sensuous 
and strange Italian cemetary monuments), hardbound, was $25. now $15.
Ralph Gibson: Courant Continu, French text, large oversized hardbound and 
signed. A fantastic buy with only a few left (black and white and color) was 
$90., now $45.
Erich Hartmann (Magnum): In the Camps, hardbound, unsigned, black and white 
on how the concentration camps look today, was $35., now $15.
L. Kusnetsova: Shaking the Dust, Aperture book, signed with bookplate, 
Leica-winner's photographs of Ukraine/Russia, hardbound/black and white, was 
$45., now $30.
Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe: The African Flower, softbound, signed, her newest 
book in black and white, was $25., now $15.
*Norbert Rosing: The World of the Polar Bear, hardbound, color, Rosing's 
poster was the biggest seller ever for National Geographic, signed on 
ornamental bookplate in book, was $40., now $25.
Frank Stewart: Smokestack Lightning, hardbound, out-of-print and rare, 
signed, black and white photographs with subject being barbecue in the US 
including recipes and text. Opaque Dustjackets either damaged or absent; 
however, book is perfect, was $35., now $10.
Larry Towell (Magnum): Then Palestine, hardbound, Aperture, signed, black-and 
white photographs, fantastic buy with a few left, was $45., now $30.
Larry Towell: The Mennonites, signed $69.95 includes the new Larry Towell CD 
"The Mennonites" with Larry's picture on the cover and containing 15 tracks 
with his readings from the book (this book & CD is probably his most 
impressive recent work)
Peter Turnley: Parisians, hardbound, signed, black and white, the subject of 
a famous Leica show on Paris, was $50., now $30.
David and Peter Turnley: In Times of War and Peace, hardbound, signed by both 
photographers, out-of-print and a monumental work in black and white and 
color, was $60. now $35.
*Riccardo Venturi:Sette Minuti, This Leica award winner from Italy, 63 page 
black and white book out-of-print and rare (one of Italy's best contemporary 
Leica photographers), hardbound and signed, only a very few left, was $45., 
now $25.
*Harry Weber: Ein Photographisches Bilderleben (A Photographer's life in 
Pictures), text in German, but mostly just pictures, hardbound and oversized 
and signed. One of Austria's most famous photographers now in his eighties. 
The subject of a full-Leica show, was $55., now $35.
*Dr. Paul Wolff: Berlin, 1936, hardbound, not signed, text in French, the Dr. 
Paul Wolff pictures of the 1936 Olympics, wonderful black and white 
photographs published in France and now out-of-print, was $35., now $20.
*Antonio Zuccon: Quadrigrafie, hardbound and signed with slipcase that looks 
like a 35mm slide holder with the inside cover opening up like 35 mm film in 
fantastic color - fold out designs both figurative with people and abstract 
with text in Italian and English - work that is design oriented and fine-art 
in character, out-of-print and very rare and very interesting via Leica 
Italy, was $55., now $25.
Also, our exhibition at Leica Gallery: "Recent Memories" by the Leica 
photographer, John Flattau runs through 10 August. John Flattau is a longtime 
associate and friend of Ralph Gibson and was a partner with Gibson in Lustrum 
Press which published all the early Gibson and Flattau books. The show has 
had wonderful reviews and was all taken with Leica M and R cameras. His work 
is fine art  with nude studies similar to Gibson. If you can't make it here 
(Tuesday through Friday 11 to 6 and Saturday 12 to 6) we have Flattau's books:
Recent Memories, softbound, printed in Italy just for the show with the Leica 
Gallery imprint / Duotone, signed - $25.00
Bridges (Lustrum, 1985), hardbound, out-of-print and rare, signed by Flattau

Rue Obscure: Vague Regret (Ianda, 1996), hardbound, out of print, rare and 
signed by Flattau - $25.
Photographs(Witkin, 1993, softbound, out-of-print and rare, signed by Flattau 
- - $15.

Shipping charge in the continental US (via UPS) is $10. minimum and maximum 
(no matter how many books are bought). Leica Gallery takes AMEX, Visa, and MC
