Subject: [Leica] Why's your stuff all beat up?

I don't think it's really about "entropy fields"
- -- it's basically about the way you feel
comfortable while shooting.

I almost never take my nice small camera bag with me,
so the M6 ( or the M3, or sorry, the N___n FM2)
stays around my neck or in my small backpack
with books and a sweater and other stuff.
I don't like lens caps so I only use the lens hood.
I try to be careful, it's expensive stuff,
but I know I'm bound to ruin my cameras
much more than a guy who uses cases and bags all the time
unless he pulls out the camera to take a shot
and then he puts the gear back

But since I know the way I shoot, I've never
bought a new camera once. Always well-used stuff,
sometimes beat-up -- cheaper and I don't bawl
my eyes out if I bump the camera somewhere

(an aside: I was concerned about scratches
on lenses and dust and stuff -- then one day
a friend of mine, a pro, gave me his 24mm --
Nikkor, OK, sorry again -- lots of scratches,
cleaning marks, appalling conditions but no
separation luckily). Well, picture quality
is almost flawless -- BW only -- really no
difference between that lens and a new one,
I'm talking about Tri-X and Plus-X in Xtol
or Acufine, printed 11x14) believe me
