In fact, I haven't seen such an elegant driver for any other scanner I've used. All you should ever need to do in a scanner driver is set the film format, calibrate, focus, set the setpoints, set the tonal curves...check them with a histogram...and scan. The Leaf driver, by far, allows all of these to be done quickly and easily. There is, as is true with anything technical, a learning curve on how to set setpoints and tonal curves. Other software has all sorts of bells and whistles...and if you like that stuff, you can do it in PhotoShop if you like. I'm not saying I would mind it being updated, but it's all there... It does use the Beseler film carriers...which is good, as you can use any of the odd film size carriers that were made...like Minox...but, Leaf also made a superb set of rotating film holders, that, IMO, are unsurpassed for film holders. There is also a group at Yahoo for the Leafscan if anyone is interested. Austin - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
