The British historian Ian Kershaw makes it quite clear in his stunning two volume biography of Hitler that while many industrialists turned their noses up at the ill-mannered ruffians who peopled the Nazi party in the pre-takeover days, they were, at the same time, helping to finance the party. No, I don't have page cites at hand - read the two volumes. I guarantee - in all seriousness - you'll enjoy the read. B. Not really, though your version IS the left-wing myth. The Nazis had almost no support from German capital until after they had achieved power. (See, say, Toland or Shirer for the few examples to the contrary, such as Fritz Thyssen). The Nazis rode to power precisely as did the Soviets, by building a coalition of middle-class and agrarian classess with a substantial number of industrial workers thrown in for good measure. And, of course, both movements share the same roots, in Hegelian dialecticalism. Reading Marxist and Nazi doctrine is interesting only in that it is indistinguishable -- both share not just incredible trivialization, logical lacunae, and REALLY boring styles but, in the end, they share their philosophies. The only difference is in the terminology - -- the doctrines are identical.
