Thanks, Richard - As I said, this isn't a today or day after tomorrow kind
of thing at this point. But I am seriously considering it. And I am aware of
the need for reading glasses, but I'd rather be one of those geeks with
reading glasses on a cord around my neck than have my glasses constantly
steam up and get filthy, driving me nuts when I shoot. ;-)

No doubt LASIK can be successful.  I've co-managed many patients with
wonderful surgeons where results have been miraculous.  Problems occur with
under and over correction, dry eye problems and periodic blur.  For those
who can't wear contact lenses and have problems with glasses, refractive
surgery is an option that must be well planned and thought out.  Remember
that if you had LASIK done with a perfect distance result, you would still
need reading glasses for near work.
