They are among the most intelligent dogs, and are generally considered good dogs with kids. I've had several, known many... B. If they are mean, their owners trained them to be. Standard Poodles have a quite nasty temperament from too much inbreeding for that special look (so I was not surprised by what B.D. reported) and many of the cute ornamental dogs are not far behind.
