I guess lots of photographers do not cherish the 135mm any more for one reason or another, possibly because of the focusing accuracy on most of the M bodies. Again, in my book the 135 Tele-Elmar is a steal for its stellar performance. But remember, you would be disappointed with its result if you do not use either the M3 or M6HM. IMO David has this right. I sold my mint Tele-Elmar just before Leica announced the 1.25X viewfinder magnifier. I don't have an M3, use M6 and M4 and found the focussing less exact than I liked. Had I had the 1.25, I would not have sold. This is a superb lens optically and built like the proverbial b.s.h. The 135/3.4 APO beats it in speed but stopped down, you will not see the difference. Unless perhaps you explode a slide to Grand Central Terminal proportions. And then you'll need a lift to get close enough to see the difference. And the Tele-Elmar is still relatively cheap.
