IMHO, Tri-X, Agfapan 400, Neopan 400, and Ilford HP5 are better than 
Tmax. I no longer use the stuff. In my area, Tri-X has the added 
advantage of being the cheapest b&w film available at $1.99 a 36 
exposure roll.
