He is a great opera enthusiast, and had the wonderful fortune to attend the opera, mainly in France and other European countries, from age four onward. I suppose he's one of the very few left who can remember meeting Nellie Melba (and, from a six year old's perspective, what struck him most was her impressive balcon--which "could have supported Roget's Thesaurus".)
