Note that (for all of its other faults) the Contax G2 does implement a
useful persistent AE Lock. The on-off switch around the shutter release
button has three positions: off, on, and AEL. Perhaps a future version of M7
could extend the on-off switch in the same fashion.

The only problem with this setup is that because the lens aperture is not
communicated to the camera, what is locked is actually the shutter speed. If
you change the aperture, the locked shutter speed does not change. But if
you remember this little gotcha, it is actually quite a useful feature. It
is quite a bit faster than using the matched diodes on the M6.
