The affluent physicians I know are buying digital P&S cameras and would not think of fooling with film, particularly if it meant taking the bottom off of the camera body! If they did move to film and did some research on it before buying, my guess is that they would get a Contax G2 (which causes even greater outrage on the LUG than does Hexar). To me, the Bessa T, Bessa R2, Hexar RF, and Leica M all coexist in peace in my camera bag. It's a shame the the Leica-M-compatible owners cannot coexist more harmoniously.
