Subject: [Leica] #17 Don's PAW attempt

Don,
A lovely shot. I like the contrasting
textures you have here: the delicate flower
against the rough storm sewer drain (at least, I
think it is a storm sewer drain). There is also
the interesting juxtaposition of two different
symmetries: the concentric rings against the
imprecise arrangement of a flower's petals. The
flower, as you say, does seem very Zen like;
perhaps it has found a place with good feng
shui. Now that I'm thinking about it, the
metallic object on which the flower is resting
also seems quite content with itself, despite
its rusting condition. Isn't it funny how so
many things in our world gain beauty with age,
and yet we are always trying to arrest the
effects of aging?
On a side note, I think you should change
your subject headings to eliminate the word
'attempt.' Your work is very good, and the word
makes me think, "If Don's PAWs are only
attempts, what does that make my pictures?" ;-)

Regards,
Michael Gerard
