TMax at 400 in TMax developer is really easy to print and it's nice for portraits. HP5 at 400 in ID11 has a lovely edge to it though. I'll settle on one in a few months. Or perhaps both. - -----Original Message----- From: Peter Klein [mailto:pklein@2alpha.com] Sent: 21 April 2002 20:31 To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: [Leica] B&W: Fast film and lens face-off What's your favorite fast B&W film (approx ISO 400), and why? I'm particularly interested in the nuances between Tri-X, HP5, Delta 400, Neopan 400: Shadow detail Highlight detail Grain Sharpness (perceived) Ability to scan well (e.g. without grain aliasing) Other (latitude, pushability, etc.) Now, suppose you need more speed. Which do you prefer doing, switching to a superspeed film, or using a faster lens? Say you're using one of the 400 films with a 50 Summicron. Now you need a speed boost. Which do you do, use an f/1.4 or f/1 lens, push your current film, or switch films? Again, which lens or film, and why? - --Peter Klein Seattle, WA - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This message is intended only for the personal and confidential use of the designated recipient(s) named above.
