Subject: RE: [Leica] Leica Days Around the World

In the US, Leica Days are nothing more than camera check/sales events - with
a small discount on some equipment. The idea that Leica would charge for
that is really appalling, but not at all surprising given their truly
twisted ideas of marketing.

On the other hand, if, as John wondered, what you are being offered is
something more like the "short-courses" Nikon offers - which are, obviously,
also marketing events - in which you are taught something about a particular
aspect of photography over the course of a day, and get to play with
equipment - then you can at least judge whether it's worth the fee to learn
what they are offering to teach.

What is on the schedule? If it is an event with food, film processing
and criticism included, a mini workshop in other words, then it sounds
reasonable. If it is a chance for them to show you the latest gear then,
no, it is not reasonable. Write a letter to your Leica distributor and
CC it to Herr Cohn.
