I had this problem of loading film before but after 5 time of practice and 
follow a suggestion in this LUG list, I be able to load film without error.
this is how I do. I assume you already knowhow to load the film.  I take the 
lead of the film to the spokes.  I only 1/4" in the spokes.  align the base 
plate hole with the 3 spikes of the spokes and tighten the base plate.
