Anyone on the LUG use the new version of the collapsible Elmar with
regularity? I bought it primarily because of its diminutive price and
diminutive size. I was surprised by its nice capabilities.

I use the Elmar-M on a regular basis. I have the 50mm F2 Summicron and the
Noctilux. All of which are less then two years old. The Elmar is a very good
performer compared to the Summicron. I have done side by sides on KM25 and
saw little observable difference in projection at maximum aperature. It
makes the M-6 camera a very convenient Point and Shoot camera. I use it with
a reversible vented metal lens hood.

With such a compact package there are few excuses to leave it behind. I take
the "package" everywhere. It gets through airport security without a second
glance.

It is the fastest focussing lens I own. It reduces the picture taking
equation to the same parameters as the orginal Leica and leaves no excuses
for having a roll of film with no images on it.

Nice to read a post about about Leica cameras and lenses
