That seems wrong. Seems like it should be one or the other. Kind of like a lawyer charging an hourly fee *and* taking some of the settlement. Plumbers get paid by the hour instead of how much water flows through the pipes afterward. Authors get paid on "usage" by how many books are bought rather than how much time they spent writing.
