Funny to think about this. At one time I wanted nothing more than to be a
pro photographer. But I failed partly because when they paid me for it I
was no good. My technique was too dependent on risk. Anyhow I ended up
making money from films, not photos. Others can judge whether I could
have ever made it as a photographer. Anyhow now I make my money from
writing movies, which allows me to do WTF I like when I photograph. The
funny thing now is that I am paid more to write than I could ever earn as
a photographer, but I ultimately judge myself more by my success in
photography than in writing? Why? Partly because of someting I wrote a
long while ago, which is that photography offers me the most unmediated
way of showing how I see the world.

Still true.
