CIGARETTE VENDING MACHINE VENDS ART, FIRST FRIDAY APRIL 5

Barred by law from most public places, this cigarette vending machine has
found a new job; dispensing artwork. Brainchild of Philadelphia performance
artist David Gerbstadt, the 1970's vintage vending machine will find itself
out in front of the National Building (113-131 North 2nd street) this First
Friday, April 5th as part of the monthly arts celebration in old city from
5:30-9 p.m..

Bringing art to the people has always been a goal of Gerbstadt who is known
for leaving art on public highways, selling paintings for fifty cents,
making art out of recycled materials such as clothing and cerial boxes and
always, always, selling cheap.

For $2 patrons will be able to buy an origional piece of artwork made by one
of a dozen Philadelphia artists.

Artists include:

David Gerbstadt
Chris Wilson
Jordan Cassway
Kyle Cassidy
Dave Carlton
Don McGown
Gail McGown
Trisha Pluck
Todd Marrone
Gina Renzi
Brian Cotter
Kaye Hirst
Jackie Oh!

a sample of artwork can be found at:
