More precisely they failed to give a recipe that other people could follow to reliably repeat it. Quite fortunate since the blast of neutrons which would have accompanied the amount of fusion they claimed to observe would have cooked them both. Others have claimed to have repeated their results, but so have people using ordinary water in place of deuterium (a control experiment F&P failed to do) which rather undermines the whole claim. Fleischmann/Pons cold fusion has entered the realms of Pariah science, but there is an Italian researcher who has got some slightly more convincing results which are much closer to theh scientific mainstream. Excellent and balanced article here... http://www.its.caltech.edu/~dg/fusion.html Then of course there is the bubble fusion, which is another matter entirely... - -- John Brownlow http://www.pinkheadedbug.com - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
