And, with Matrix metering, you can use it on either P, AE, or Shutter preferred, so you can still pick one half of the exposure equation. But I have to admit that I've never equated setting exposure with "fun." To me what's fun is finding and capturing the image - the rest is techno necessity.;-) My biggest problem with Matrix metering is me - I have a really really hard time trusting it - even though I intuitively 'know' that it works beautifully. So, matrix meter, bracket one stop on each side, with and without flash, and use a half roll of film to get the shot! :-) Keep in mind that people have made prize winning photos in those situations for generations before matrix metering came on the scene too, so it is really just a matter of confidence and to some extent a replacement for intimate familiarity with the camera and film you are using. But, I will give in to the idea of using matrix metering for some situations - but I maintain that it is just no fun. It's like buying a shot from one of the 100 pros that are programmed into the camera!
