Since you asked for opinions...

My opinion is that, having read - and admittedly contributed to - several
years of whining and begging over what an M7 should or shouldn't include -
it is rather foolish to start this nonsense all over again now that Leica
has finally released an M7. It is what it is, and no amount of discussion is
going to change what it is. So why waste time asking 'would it be better
if...?' Either buy it, or don't. Stick with Leica, or don't.

But that is just an opinion. Which is what you asked for. :-)

One of the weakest links in the M7 is that the exposure locked in is
held only for that one time, requiring remetering for each additional
shot except in (my opinion/experience) a small proportion of instances.
Recomposing the picture even slightly may result in a different exposure
when the subject is in the same light.

This could have been avoided with a button/switch which would have
allowed the metered exposure to be held as long as needed.

If the meter had been improved with the option of switching to matrix
would not that have been a worthwhile feature?

How might it have been done? How about making the entire curtain
reflective and either varying the reflectivity or different sections or
adding several sensors baffled to read only a part of the frame, or
both.

Opinions?
