To paraphrase and summarize, a traditional wet print might have more sparkle(longer range from d-min to d-max) and possibly better fine detail(the 40 cycle MTF) but the micro contrast in the mid-tones can be much better in a digital print as that can be infinitely controlled in the computer. In the digital medium once out of absolute black and absolute white the grayscale can be set to whatever pleases the artist; hence a "better print". Is that close enough?
