I will indeed let people know when the various projects are up - and some
of, no, most of the students have come up with really good projects.

As to Starbucks not being any more interesting than any one of a million
other places - you're right; it's not. It's simply a commercial entity that
serves as a social gathering place. And, as such, I believe is worth trying
to document.

My student has gotten some nice shots, so I'll be interested to see what
comes out of the project - btw, the students also have to write a 1,500 to
2,000 word essay. The essays and photos can enhance each other, but the
requirement is that the written work and the photography be able to stand
alone.

BD...let us know where to look. I went into a Starbucks for the first time
in my life, in
Sacramento recently...and horror....was pleasantly surprised...not least by
the
distinctly non corporate choice of music. I will be interested to see the
shots but.....I
remain uncertain that the pics there will be any more interesting, artistic,
revealing,
or worthwhile than about ten thousand other places....except for the few
dudes who looked
like they fell out of bed and landed there.... Steve
