If you put the clear side up instead, I haven't had any problems but hello Newton rings. If you are using the slides for something else besides scanning maybe use the slide mounts as they result in the best flatness for depth of field challenged scanners such as the LS4000. If you aren't projecting your slides as well, I'd keep them in strips and use the strip film holder your scanner is supplied with - if you have one. I keep everything in strips now, I didn't find enough of a difference between glass mounted slides and strips in the holder to warrant the extra hassle and Newton rings. Just IMO of course. :) Cheers, Neil - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us]On Behalf Of dante@umich.edu Sent: 23 March 2002 15:15 To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Scan through GEPE AN glass slide mounts? > I've never done it and would not do it. > What the hell you can't take those glass slides mounts off ? > If scanning is really important and you have to replace mounts go ahead. > If not, keep mounts and forget scanning. How about if you are scanning undersize transparencies (18x24) from your Leica Reporter, and there are simply no other mounts available? You can't exactly stick a single frame, even of 24x36, in any scanner. I do print fairly regularly with AN glass, and I imagine that as long as the glass is not on the sensor side, that it wouldn't a problem. I just want to find out if anyone knows differently before I mount an entire roll of film.
