Subject: [Leica] R5 broken-again!

Hi all- My R5 broke during use at a funeral service yesterday. I got 3 of 4
images I wanted to take. I was planning on using it in Big Sur Ca. this Fri.
The shutter release button doesn't work the shutter any more- I checked the
battery- it was fine. I put in a new battery- no help. Tried all the modes
of exposure and changed all shutter speeds- no help. The camera was serviced
for a broken ISO adjustment lever and checked out by Leica NJ a year and a
half ago. I bought this camera new several years ago.

I went to an independent camera repair expert this afternoon- he took off
the bottom cover- poked around- no help. He said the camera had "spider
webs" inside- not too clean. He told me up front that he didn't repair R
series cameras- worked on M's.

Any suggestions about a service location which could give me a fix, CLA, a
reasonable price and good turnaround?

The repair technician gave me the name Don Goldberg- at Dag Cam Repair
608-838-4769 as a competent (but maybe slow) repair possiblity. Any insight/
or usage of Don by anyone on an R repair? Thanks for any help. Stasys

ps- I'll be using my R4's and Nikon F3HP for the Big Sur shoot.
