Suddenly we heard chants and noise, and we were engulfed by a demonstration arranged by various left-wing groups in connection with International Women's Day. Now, the actual day (8 March) was Friday, but I guess in Switzerland the revolution can be postponed by one day so that the revolutionaries do not need to take a day off work to overthrow the existing order ;-) The head of the demo: http://www.wajsman.com/2002_10.jpg Langstrasse, in addition to being the place to go in Zurich for Chinese, Indian and other Asian foods (as well as Carribean stuff) is also the city's red light district. I got some shots of bemused prostitutes looking on the demo from their windows, but unfortunately none of them were of PAW standard. The best I could do was this shot of the demonstration passing one of the many "nightclubs": http://www.wajsman.com/2002_10alt1.jpg As usual, the police were out in force, but everything was peaceful this time (as opposed to the traditional battles between police and anarchists on May Day): http://www.wajsman.com/2002_10alt2.jpg All pictures taken with the Leica M6, 24mm Elmarit, on Delta 400. The main PAW index is at: http://www.wajsman.com/indexpaw2002.htm and comments/critique are welcome and appreciated as always.
