I know a number of people who's lives were rather damaged by the Catholic Church that, at a conference we had, immediately saw meaning in "Piss Christ" - it had quite powerful resonance's. For them it was a very valid piece of art. Dung on canvas - you might want to read, for example, The History of Shit by Dominique Laporte, or Underworld by DeLillo, or the Unbearable Likeness of Being by Kundera; or the story of the IRA Hunger Strikers "on the blanket", to realise how central "dung" is to our society - and I'm not being facetious (managed to avoid the misspelling there...) - it's a subject entirely worthy of artistic investigation and exploration. Do you know how many millions (actually, probably billions) of dollars profit are made on "waste disposal".
