If you are lucky some terrific bargains can be had.  I got a 19mm Elmarit R
2.8 ROM lens for $1,200 on ebay.  Usually that lens goes for $1900-2000 used
and sells for $2,895 new(Tamarkin web site).  Leica Northvale checked it out
for me and it is in perfect working order.
