Subject: [Leica] strobonar with R3?

I have a R3 and several old Honeywell Strobonar 882's.  Can these be
used with the R3 (or R4) or is there a danger of frying the electronics
in the cameras?  I heard that these old 882 stobes crank out over 600
volts and might cook the camera electronics. Anyone know?

And what battery pack would be good for powering the 882?
