BD - I had the same feeling even as a rank amateur and is the reason why I
got out of the R8 once i handled the F100 - did everything I needed to be
done better than the R8 with less overall weight.  It could be argued (
successfully but don't tell my wife) that I dont deserve either camera.  I
am put off by the consumer level Nikon lenses being incredible slow but have
found that F100 mated to manual focus Nikon is not a bad way to go and you
even get focus confirmation if needed.
