Having read a lot of what Erwin Puts has written, including his book, I must
say that his writings seem to be about as disciplined, impartial, and
objective as it is possible for one human being to make them.

He also indicates when a non-Leica lens's characteristics are better
than those of a similar Leica lens, and I don't believe that this is
just to give the appearance of impartiality.

Perhaps, but not blinded. He gives very positive reviews to most of the
Voigtlander-Cosina products - ranking many of them ahead of the
last-generation Leicas, and as I recall had good things to say about the
Konica Hexar RF (aside from that focus issue that I still don't
understand - seems it varies from model to model).
