Give her the M and insure it with a personal articles floater policy. Covers
just about any type of loss you can imagine.

I would recommend just one lens to start with. Let her master it, a 50 or 35
would be a good choice.

I do believe it should be "her" camera and lens, on loan from you of course, but
not one you will take and use yourself whenever you need it. Maybe duplication
of one lens for awhile but if she gets into using it then lens borrowing can
come later.

Just my $0.02. But the floater is good peace of mind insurance.
