I am not at the level to expolain the problems attendent with the design and fall off.... Those that do are welcome to explain. However, the SA lenses, regardless of when made, for whom made, and what maximum F stop, all suffer. The current thinking is to use a circularly graduated ND filter to even this issue out... In the old days, it was considered OK... it forces the eye to come to the center of the image.... similar to what happens when you Burn In the edges of a print.
