It's not the_bokeh_that I'm concerned with when I shoot with the Canon.
I use mine exclusively for paying assignments. I use fuji
film,_amateur_emulsions, Sensia 200 and 400, and Fujicolor 200 and 400.
Almost everything is flashfilled, irrespective of whether it's outside
or inside. For transparencies, the camera's setting are for 1/2 stop
over exposure, with 1/2 under exposure for the flash. On the color neg.,
it's 1/2 over exposure on the exposure and the flash. I rate the 400 ISO
at 200 ISO, it keeps things simple when I'm flash filling outside.
With these films, the EOS L lenses have an amazing clarity and
sharpness. The largest size prints I'm requested are 4x6, which are
machine processed. After scanning, I can't tell what's shot with what,
equipment wise. From these shoots, I'll never personally print 20x30,
16x20, let alone 8x10. I've had huge convention hall banners printed
from these slides and negs, which was the client's prerogative.
Myself, I won't print anything larger than a 6x8 from my Leica negs.
Once I see that the grain is starting to show I'll stop right then and
there. If I know ahead of time that I'll need to make larger prints, or
chromes for an editorial piece, I'll jump formats to 120 or 4x5.
Incidentally, my point and shoot of record, is my Rollei. That means
whichever one is handy in my car at the moment, TLR or SLR. But lately,
I've been know to skulk, for my personal projects, with an M6, or a
IIIa, or even a Bessa-T. Although, on a regular basis, I'll take out the
4x5, place it on a tripod and shoot away.
