Okay LUGERšs you can keep speculating 'bout this new thing; however, I donšt
need to. Two hours ago my hands were filled with a M7. Should I get
emotional and babble about the moving experience or just tell you straight
out how this M user of 40 plus years felt about this new entry into the
Leica legacy.

Išll pick the latter and tell you that the electronic readout in the
viewfinder is clear and easy to read and if not in the AE mode you still
have triangles and dot of the M6. The on/off switch is there outside the
shutter release collar just like in the pictures and the new exposure
indexing wheel on the back is a true improvement, DX reading, ISO setting
and over/under compensation with a lock button. There appears to be no other
changes. I did not see AE lock or higher flash sync, lighting bolt still at
spot on the dial. I did not have a lot of time with the camera and did not
get into the users manual so this is not an in depth report. The MAP is
less than $2500 and it should be on your dealers shelve in May 2002.

It is a nice improvement but certainly not innovative or revolutionary.

Happy snaps,
Steven Alexander
